A funky New York gallery specialising in pop art shows is to make its UK debut in Mayfair the Evening Standard can reveal.
Eden Fine Art, which has exhibited works by such leading lights as Andy Warhol and Dorit Levinstein, will open its doors at 123 New Bond Street next year.
It will join a clutch of peers in the area including the Halcyon Gallery, which also specialises in contemporary art.
The company — set up by Israeli Cathia Klimovsky in 1998 — already has nine galleries including in Madison Avenue and in SoHo, both in New York.
Eden’s agent, Jamie Strachan of Harper Dennis Hobbs, said: “Bond Street remains this country’s pre-eminent location for luxury goods, and Eden’s position midway between Sotheby’s and Bonhams gives it a perfect platform to showcase key pieces.”
The letting with the landlord, the City of London Corporation advised by CBRE, boosts the UK’s €11.2 billion (£9.4 billion) art industry.
It will calm fears that the EU referendum result could weaken Britain’s image as a destination for tourists.
