London helicopter courier service launches to serve City bankers on deal deadlinesComments Off on London helicopter courier service launches to serve City bankers on deal deadlines
The service, launced by DHL Express, flies daily from Heathrow into the Isle of Dogs – bypassing traffic and cutting the journey time into Canary Wharf and the City of London by up to one hour, before couriers complete the job on the road.
DHL’s European boss John Pearson said: “For the financial and professional services sector in particular, time really is money, so we are always looking for innovative, more efficient ways to move our customers’ shipments.”
The firm said the new helicopter would guarantee next day delivery of urgent documents from New York, Boston and Chicago to London’s financial district.
It is the firm’s third such service, having tried and tested the concept in New York and Los Angeles.
DHL has around 50% of the UK market.
