Upmarket stationery retailer kikki.K is poised to say g’day to Covent Garden as the Australian chain prepares to debut in Britain.
The retailer, which stocks £105 personal planners, plans to expand in the UK after signing a lease with FTSE 250 landlord Capital & Counties to open a shop on 5-6 James Street next month, as well as a nearby pop-up.
Swedish founder Kristina Karlsson told the Standard: “We plan to open a handful of boutiques in the very best locations in London.
“We truly believe kikki.K is unlike any other brand in London.”
Property agent CWM will help it find five stores in the UK over the next 12 months.
The brand has around 80 shops across Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
It declined to comment on price but sources said a rent of around £1,400 per square foot zone A had been agreed, which is more akin to prices for retail hotspots Oxford Street and Bond Street.
Landlord CapCo’s director Sarah-Jane Curtis said their new tenant will “help to grow Covent Garden’s reputation as a world class shopping destination”.
