Johnson feasts on linen boom in London restaurantsComments Off on Johnson feasts on linen boom in London restaurants
POSH linen table clothes at high-end restaurants helped drive a boom in sales at Johnson Service Group.
The textiles firm services The Fat Duck run by Heston Blumenthal (pictured) and City dealmakers’ favourite The Wolseley.
Its two top-of-the-range subsidiaries Stalbridge and London Linen, which rent out linen to 4000 restaurants in London, helped drive textiles rental sales up 35% to £115.7 million.
The other part of its business, Johnsons Dry cleaning, fared worse due to the effects of a restructuring. Sales fell to £21.9 million from £23.5 million last year.
Revenue rose 26% to £137.6 million and adjusted pre-tax profits, stripping out debt interest payments, were up to £14.1 million from £10.1 million.
