Developers have been invited to bid to build 1400 new homes moments from Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium after its revamp.
Haringey Council said it is looking for a partner to create a new neighbourhood at High Road West, part of wider plans which include the overhaul of White Hart Lane station to the planned £400 million 61,000-seat stadium which, at present, has capacity for 36,000.
The hunt for a property partner comes shortly after final consent was given for the transformation of the Premier League side’s home, which will also host NFL American Football games.
Claire Kober, leader of the council, said an “ambitious” housebuilder was required.
Agent Bilfinger GVA is advising Haringey and it is hoped a preferred bidder will be secured by early 2017.
The north London borough wants to see 10,000 new homes created in Tottenham by 2025 as London’s leaders attempt to ease the capital’s housing crisis.
