Domino's Pizza delivers mighty meaty performance despite competition threatComments Off on Domino's Pizza delivers mighty meaty performance despite competition threat
Drivers for UberEATS and Deliveroo are an increasingly common sight on the capital’s roads but Domino’s chief executive David Wild said the pizza chain’s franchise model will keep its ovens full.
“We’re investing in technology… we’re recruiting and training our drivers better, we’re putting a lot more effort into store performance,” he said.
He added that firms which deliver a number of brands “tend to focus on taking the order”. “These are great businesses but there is a difference.”
Domino’s, which sponsors Hollyoaks, expects to open 80 new outlets this year, rather than the 70 it forecast earlier. The expansion comes despite a slowdown in third-quarter growth: UK same-store sales rose 3.9%, compared with last year’s stellar 15%.
Analysts remained unperturbed, however. Credit Suisse said: “We believe the willingness of franchisees to put capital to work on new sites is a critical measure of success.”
