The fastest-selling sites for the firm’s London division are in the south-east of the capital — Greenwich’s Enderby Wharf and Greenland Place in Deptford, where the company is struggling to build homes fast enough to keep up with demand, according to chief executive Mark Clare.
“At the top end where we have got very limited exposure the market has plateaued — we’re not seeing the quite ridiculous price growth that we were seeing 12 to 24 months ago.
“Our exposure to the top end is probably around 20 units a year,” Clare said.
Barratt will have more than 400 sites by the end of June, the highest number for six years.
The firm sold 6971 homes in the six months to December, up 12.5% on a year earlier.
