Charbonnel et Walker celebrates Queen's 90th birthday with sales surgeComments Off on Charbonnel et Walker celebrates Queen's 90th birthday with sales surge
The Queen’s favourite chocolatier Charbonnel et Walker has created a £100 celebration box to toast Her Majesty’s birthday and celebrate a 27% sales surge.
Featuring two majestic gold gryphons, the blue coloured box was on sale in time for the 90th birthday party at the weekend, and was unveiled 141 years after the firm was founded.
But the Royal Warrant holder does not solely count the monarchy as its customer base it said.
Charbonnel et Walker, which has three standalone stores in London, told the Standard that it is tempting a new generation of customers to tuck into its goods.
“With greater social media engagement, we have noticed our collections becoming more popular with a younger and much wider demographic.”
Its bestseller in the year to April 30 2015 was the pink Marc de Champagne truffle. Turnover rose to £10.8 million from £8.4 million the prior year, while pretax profit increased to £2.3 million from £1.5 million.
Plans for 2016 include new flavours.
