Stone will leave Candy & Candy — the interior designers behind One Hyde Park — later this month.
A well-known face in the central London property market, Stone was appointed a director at entrepreneur Nick Candy’s company in December 2013.
Before that he spent more than 20 years at estate agent giant Savills, where he was instrumental in developments such as advising Christian Candy’s CPC Group on buying the Sugar Quay site near Tower Bridge in 2012.
His new business will be called Stone Real Estate and aims to spend up to £150 million this year on buildings in the capital where there is scope for major redevelopment.
Stone said he has secured three potential backers from the UK and the Middle East.
He added: “I believe London continues to represent an excellent opportunity to invest in well-selected schemes where significant rises in rental and value can be predicted.”
A spokesman for Candy & Candy said the firm will retain Stone’s services.
