Brexit prompts London fashion retailer to freeze UK expansion plansComments Off on Brexit prompts London fashion retailer to freeze UK expansion plans
Wolf & Badger has frozen UK expansion plans in favour of investing in the US following the Brexit vote, the upmarket London fashion retailer which counts celebrities Robert Pattinson and Rita Ora as fans, has revealed.
The firm, which has branches in Notting Hill and Mayfair as well as an online shop, has put the opening of an east London shop as well as up to three others in regional cities, on hold.
Instead Wolf & Badger has just finalised a deal to make its overseas debut in SoHo, New York, in February 2017.
It will open up the 2,500 square foot space at 95 Grand Street.
Wolf & Badger is also eyeing sites in LA and Miami as well as in China where it wants to sell its goods such as £986 kaftan dresses.
George Graham, who co-founded the business in 2009, said: “With Brexit looming and the UK entering a period of uncertainty, we are extremely pleased to be entering the US market and facilitating continued opportunities for independent labels even if the European market starts to close up.”
