AG Barr loses its sales fizz after Commonwealth Games boost
Comments Off on AG Barr loses its sales fizz after Commonwealth Games boostAG Barr, which also makes Rubicon juices and Tizer, said total sales dropped 1.1% in the 15 weeks to 9 May.
It has been a busy year for the Cumbernauld-based business, which sold off its Orangina and Findlays water coolers brands, while buying cocktail mixers firm Funkin for up to £21 million in February.
Bosses said the new business contributed nearly £3 million to gross sales during the period and added that plans to expand its Milton Keynes warehouse were well under way, with a cost of £11 million.
Despite insistences from the company that the fall in sales is just a blip and full-year targets are on track, shareholders took flight, sending the shares down 13.5p to 609.5p.
It added: “The UK macroeconomic environment appears more positive.”
